Trey Malicoat, M.S.
Business strategist, author, and speaker on the human side of AI, automation, and organizational change.
Trey Malicoat helps businesses make smart decisions about AI, automation, and people, combining business leadership with clinical psychology and human adaptation.

Business decisions. Human consequences.
Trey has founded several businesses, led a multimillion-dollar regional healthcare company, and spent 25 years consulting with organizations navigating growth and change. He understands the pressure to make a business more capable and the responsibility to bring people into its future.
His work asks leaders to consider two questions together: What can technology carry more effectively? And what should people have more time, authority, and purpose to do?
A foundation in clinical psychology and crisis response
Trey holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. His mental health career began in 1996 and has included work as a therapist, healthcare administrator, and crisis responder.
His crisis-response service has included the aftermath of the Thurston and Columbine school shootings, the September 11 World Trade Center attack, and the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. That experience informs his attention to identity, uncertainty, belonging, and the conversations people need when familiar ways of living and working change.
Teaching and practical education
He has taught at the University of Denver, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, and Western Oregon University. His courses have reached 4,000 students worldwide and received 1,200 course ratings.
In a keynote or facilitated workshop, Trey uses stories, questions, and practical reflection to make complex human experiences understandable. Watch his audience interactions and read participant feedback.

Books that continue the conversation
The Queen Has No Friends explores power, fear, control, and the relationships people can lose while protecting their place. The 11 Vows Relationship Series explores personal relationships and human connection. His writing gives readers space to consider their own choices.
Bring the work to your organization
The Cost of Standing Still opens the conversation about business transformation and human adaptation. The six-decision methodology helps teams consider a path forward. A facilitated workshop or consulting engagement applies those questions to your organization.
